Excel export for E-commerce opss

By the Mail → Excel team · Updated 2026-10-20

Lost parcels and supplier delays are usually already in email before anyone updates the tracker. This page lists the exact columns, an example row and the command that produces it.

Columns to keep

ColumnWhy it matters
orderOrder number — the join key with your e-commerce system.
supplierWho supplies the item; used for delay analysis.
trackingCarrier tracking number, stored in full.
issueFree-text problem description, kept short.
statusFixed vocabulary: open / in progress / done / blocked.

Example row

One real-shaped row from this role’s export:

ordersuppliertrackingissuestatus
ORD-77120ShenzhenParts1Z999AA10123456784delayedopen

Export it in one command

python mail_to_excel.py \
  --host imap.example.com --user you@example.com \
  --days 31 --fields order,supplier,tracking,issue,status \
  --out ecommerce-ops.xlsx

The --fields option is what turns a raw dump into a report your role can use.

Provider notes

Zoho and Fastmail work with app passwords; check IMAP is enabled in settings.

FAQ

Can this track returns?

Add a «direction» column (outbound/inbound) and filter it in the spreadsheet.

What about marketplace message systems?

Those are not IMAP; export them separately and merge by order number.

Is there a ready script for this?

Yes — the Python script exports any IMAP mailbox with the fields listed above; it costs $3 and runs locally.
